recently been trying to get onto xbox live. I have tested the connection to my internet and it is fine. However at the bottom of the "test connection" section it says "service alert matchmaking". Sometimes i have been able to get online in halo 4 , most of the time recently though i have not been able to get on the xbox live marketplace , and it always is asking for my email and password now. I am not to sure what i should do, its very annoying, and really would like to get it fixed. And after i try to sign in, itll say my gamertag has X amount of friends online and that im signed in, however a screen comes up saying "sorry there was a problem, please try again later"..and i don't know when later will come, because i have retried signing in several, several times, and it will not let me for whatever reason.

    First of all Xbox live is having a matchmaking service alert most people are unable to connect with each other in multi-player games this will be resolved shortly.

    secondly go to www.xbox.com and click on support then on the Right side it will have a tab for error codes use that this tab lists the different codes and how to fix them.

    http://xbox.com/status shows the matchmaking problem - when that clears you're ready to try again.

    Please clear your system cache and then roll back the most recent update. Go to Settings>System>Storage and put in the following button code on your controller: Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X

    After your Xbox restarts, accept to redownload the update.
