Xbox One controller broken by Windows Anniversary Update

  • Level   1

Using the wireless dongle, it appears 2 controllers are being registered to the system. 2 controllers appear in Steam Big Picture Settings and games like Dragon's Dogma act very erratically, seemingly swapping between multiple controllers as you press different buttons (you can see the button prompts change from Xbox to generic 1/2/3 etc. Other games the controller just doesn't work. Some games still work correctly.

There's also an issue where the controller will initially keep disconnecting. This can be resolved by repairing.

I have the same problem. Steam detects two xinput pads when only one is connected, and every input is doubled.

Same problem. Double inputs in steam BPM, wired or wireless is the same. Have tried it with Steam beta and non-beta, again the problem persists. Also passes over into several games, making them unplayable.

So I have rolled back from the anniversary update and its now fine again.

No more week 1 updates for me, ever again. Too many bugs, too many times.

Same problem here with the new S controller connected over bluetooth. 2 xinput controllers detected in Steam.

The same problem! Steam Big Picture and some games detect two controllers (one "Xbox One" controller connected - wired or wireless with adapter), all inputs is doubled. "INSIDE" doesn't work at all with Xbox One Controller after Anniversary Update!

+1. Tested 2 different computers, 2 different BT 4.0 devices, tested with the windows wireless adapter with both X1 and X1S controllers.

I am using the new Xbox One S controller over bluetooth and am experiencing the same issue with double xinput devices registering. Controls in Steam Big Picture are broken.

Broken for me as well. Example games:

    Slain, Inside, etc...

Works fine in others like DOOM

Issue solved! The new "xinputhid.sys" driver doesn't work properly - use old version! www.youtube.com/watch Where is the QA, Microsoft? Fix it!

This might work over USB but this seems to be incompatible with the controllers over Bluetooth. The old driver wouldn't install for me.

Same issue for me. I'm using the revised 3.5mm jack controller. It worked fine before the update.

Same issue for me after Windows Anniversary Update.

I have found this only happens with the newer Xbox One controllers with the 3.5mm audio jack (both regular 3.5mm standard edition and the brand new white S version)

Playing Divinity - Original Sin Enhanced Edition had major issues with triggers as well as double inputs as everyone in this thread has talked about.

I hooked up my old Xbox One controllers without the 3.5mm audio jack and all was fine again.

    Rollback to a previous driver

Driver rollback works for USB or Wifi dongle but not Bluetooth.
